The 6 month window during which an appeal could be made against the refusal of planning application 13/01965/FUL for a Gypsy and Traveller site at the Old Colliery has now passed.
We can confirm that no appeal has been made.
We are pleased that we can put a line under this extraordinary time for our community which has seen us battling and winning against a concerted effort to impose unsustainable and damaging development on one of our prized heritage assets.
This victory was not possible without the ongoing support of our local communities.
Thank you to everyone who helped in any way however small – your support is very much appreciated.

Yesterday MPs debated the current gypsy and traveller policy with opportunity to raise local and/or national issues. It is an interesting debate reflecting many issues that we have seen locally. It is 1.5hrs long, but finishes with a response from a the government minister Nick Bowles.
The debate was moved by Andrew Selous, Conservative MP for South West Bedfordshire.
