The 6 month window during which an appeal could be made against the refusal of planning application 13/01965/FUL for a Gypsy and Traveller site at the Old Colliery has now passed.
We can confirm that no appeal has been made.
We are pleased that we can put a line under this extraordinary time for our community which has seen us battling and winning against a concerted effort to impose unsustainable and damaging development on one of our prized heritage assets.
This victory was not possible without the ongoing support of our local communities.
Thank you to everyone who helped in any way however small – your support is very much appreciated.

Yesterday MPs debated the current gypsy and traveller policy with opportunity to raise local and/or national issues. It is an interesting debate reflecting many issues that we have seen locally. It is 1.5hrs long, but finishes with a response from a the government minister Nick Bowles.
The debate was moved by Andrew Selous, Conservative MP for South West Bedfordshire.

Congratulations to the action group at Stowey for winning their appeal. Well done.
You were badly let down by BaNES, they are rightly criticised by the inspector.

A number of you may have received an email from BaNES, ref: “Application to designate Stanton Drew Neighbourhood Area”.
This application for a ‘Neighbourhood Area’ is the first stage of the process for Stanton Drew Parish to create a ‘Neighbourhood Plan’.
Neighbourhood Plans are an important part of the Government’s Localism Act 2011 and SWAG is an active supporter of the process.
Please “Click Here” if you would like to see an email that we have sent to any of our subscribers that we have registered as being in Stanton Drew Parish, it explains a bit more about the Neighbourhood Area/Plan process, and why there has been an email from BaNES.

Planning application 13/01965/FUL is currently being readvertised by BaNES, officially from 11th July to 25th July (5pm). So anyone who ran out of time and didnt get a response into BaNES now has a chance to do so. All existing objections remain. Determination date remains 7th August 2013.
The application is readvertised due to modifications in 2 documents, there is a revised red line and a revised application form – although strangely it is dated 8th May. In addition BaNES have changed the description of the application to reflect their understanding that the spoil heaps do not and never have had B2 use.
